Opened in 2013 after a year of renovations, L’Auberge de Meo Vac welcomes you in a centenary H’mong house, beautifully located on the periphery of Meo Vac town, just 10 minutes’ walk from the central market.
Originally built by a rich well-known H’mong, based on the model of a fortified farm from southern of China, the building architecture still presents some characteristics of the passed dominant crop of this lost valley of the upper colonial Tonkin: Opium.
A wooden stilt house made from precious pine wood , adobe walls, tiled roof and stone courtyard, make L’Auberge de Meo Vac an exceptional site, a pillar of cultural and responsible tourism.

The interior of the ancestral house has been conserved, such as 3 partitioned spans on 2 levels. Each floor has 2 private rooms and a common space, with a fireplace on the ground floor.
The preservation of the original building, allows the visitors to be immersed in the atmosphere of an ancestral H’mong interior. Hence the decision to install the bathrooms externally, comprising 2 toilets and 4 showers. The side house, rebuilt based on the foundations updated during the restoration work, offers dormitory accommodation upstairs.

We serve a set menu composed of an assortment of local dishes depending on availability at the market and seasonal produce, plus some local corn-distilled spirit.
